REVIEW ON DERMA TOPIX BENZADERM FACE WASH AND BENZADERM GEL - ACNE TREATMENT

BENZADERM ACNE TREATMENT FOR CLEAN, CLEAR SKIN:

One would agree that most if not all women want clean, clear skin that is blemish free.  I am one of those who struggled with many different products and was unable to get smooth skin.  After many failed attempts at acquring perfect skin, and after having begun to be severely depressed, I did some research and discovered that benzoyl peroxide is effective in treating blackheads, whiteheads, and pimples.  Obviously, I was ecstatic and I went out immediately in search for any product with this ingredient.

 I tried several different face cleansers and toners which provided some relief, but after some months, I came across the Derma Topix Benzaderm Face Wash with Aloe Vera.

This face wash contains benzoyl peroxide with the 10% strength.  From my previous experiences with benzoyl peroxide face cleansers, the higher the strength, the more prone the skin is to redness, peeling and dryness.  (Derma Topix also has a Benzaderm face wash with the 5% strength that is more mild and gentle on the skin).

BENZADERM FACE WASH - 10%

WHAT IS BENZOYL PEROXIDE?

Benzoyl Peroxide is used to treat mild to moderate acne and when applied to the skin, it works by reducing the amount of acne-causing bacteria.  At first the skin will dry and peel and as such a moisturizer that is suited to your skin type should be applied when using products with Benzoyl Peroxide.

HOW SHOULD THE BENZADERM FACE CLEANSER BE USED?

The Benzaderm Face Wash does not need to be shaken and should only be used twice daily since the benzoyl peroxide strength in this cleanser is 10% (which is very strong).  The cleanser is applied to wet skin and is gently massaged without rubbing hard on the skin,  then pat dry with a towel and apply a suitable moisturizer.  I personally believe that this cleanser works better on the skin after all the makeup is removed completely, therefore, I use a makeup remover (for sensitive skin types), and remove all the makeup on my face and then apply this cleanser.

HOW SOON DID I SEE RESULTS?

After approximately three (3) weeks of using this cleanser, my skin had less acne and the existing ones, became smaller after every use they eventually dried out.  I do not get any huge bumps on my face or my neck anymore! (which is really a huge relief!).

WARNINGS:

(1)  Avoid getting the product in your eyes, inside your nose or mouth or on any broken skin since this may cause irritation.  If this occurs, the area should be flushed immediately with water;

(2)  Benzoyl Peroxide may bleach hair or fabrics so you should avoid contact with hair, clothing, fabrics or furnishings;

(3)  While using this product, you should avoid excessive exposure to the sun. If you have to be in the sun, a sun block should be used.

RECOMMENDATIONS AND FINAL THOUGHTS:

I have been using this product for over two (2) months and I am very satisfied with it even though I experience occasional drying, it is not excessive.  I am in my thirties, so I don't know how this product would work on teenagers, however, it would be wise to consult a dermatologist or a doctor if you are unsure whether to try this face wash or if you have extremely sensitive skin.

DERMA TOPIX - BENZADERM GEL - ACNE SPOT TREATMENT:

BENZADERM GEL USP, 10%:

This gel is used on spots after I cleanse with the Benzaderm Face Wash.  It works to actively dry up existing pimples and make them smaller.  I use this twice daily in the morning before I moisturize and apply makeup and at night before I apply a night cream.

This gel also has the ingredient benzoyl peroxide strength of 10% so excessive use will, just like the face wash, lead to drying and peeling.  I did mention earlier that since I started using the face wash I dont break out as much, hence, I have not applied this gel as regularly as when I began treatment with both products.

LIST OF INGREDIENTS:

Carbomer, Purified Water, Sodium Hydroxymethylglycinate, Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate.
